The Taunton Development Corporation is responsible for the marketing and management of the Myles Standish Industrial Park and the Liberty and Union Industrial Park.

The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council recently unveiled its roster of "Bio Ready Communities" - those that have positioned themselves as destinations for labs or manufacturing plants. Forty-four cities and towns made the industry's first list, including 17 designated platinum, the highest rating, which also includes the City of Taunton.

A platinum community has adopted the National Institutes of Health guidelines on rDNA activity, has a building or buildings that are permitted for biotech uses, and which have 20,000+ square feet available space for biotech uses or has a shovel-ready pre-permitted land site with completed MEPA review and municipal water and sewer capacity to meet additional demand.
